Centerville, MA -- The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod board of directors has announced that David B. Kaplan will be the Interim Executive Director of the organization while a search committee looks for a permanent Director after the departure of President & CEO, Kevin Howard.

Kaplan has most recently served as Co-Chair and Executive Director of the Cape and Island Theater Coalition, a 26 member association of local and regional nonprofit live theaters in southeastern Massachusetts.  He is President of the Jeremiah Kaplan Foundation, and past board member of the Arts Foundation, Cape Cod Museum of Art and Eventide Arts, and has served on numerous government and Chamber of Commerce committees . Prior to moving to Cape Cod 10 years ago with his wife and two children he had a career in science and technology publishing in New York, California and Marshfield MA and is a licensed commercial real estate broker.

"We are so fortunate to have someone of David's knowledge and passion for the arts take the helm during this interim period," said Mark Skala, chairman of the AFCC board of directors. "We have made such meaningful progress promoting, encouraging and advocating for arts and culture under the leadership of former President/CEO Kevin Howard and we know that with David working with the staff, board of directors and our membership, we won't miss a beat while the search is on for a permanent Executive Director."

Kaplan states that he "looks forward to this opportunity to serve as the interim steward of this vital organization, and to working with the staff and board of directors to carry on and extend the Arts Foundation's critical work of supporting, strengthening and celebrating the artists and cultural organizations of our region."

The Arts Foundation has created a search committee, chaired by board member David Willard, who will review all resumes and select candidates to be interviewed. The search committee will then present its recommendations for finalists to the entire board of directors.  The board of directors will then ultimately hire the E.D. from this field of finalists. Interested applicants should submit their resumes to Skala via email at
