Centerville, MA -- The CrabGrass Bluegrass Band will open up the 24th Annual Cape Cod Five Pops in the Park concert.  The local group will perform at 3:15pm shortly after the gates open and prior to the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra concert from 5-7pm.

One of Cape Cod's favorite musical acts, CrabGrass is a five-piece bluegrass band that plays both traditional and contemporary bluegrass, emphasizing tight vocal harmonies and lively instrumentals. The band has been together for over 10 years and features Chris Miner on mandolin, Banjo player Les Beavan, guitarists Steve Finch and Dan Fortier, and Steve Healy on bass with all the band members contributing to their signature vocal sound.  They have performed in a wide variety of local and regional venues, including festivals, civic events, private parties, weddings, clubs and special benefits introducing large audiences to their joyful brand of authentic bluegrass music.
According to Kevin Howard, Executive Director of the Arts Foundation, "Crabgrass has been very popular on the music scene on the Cape for many years. They have been a mainstay of our Summer Concert Series and we are very pleased to bring them as an opening band to the pre-Pops festivities."

Proceeds from the concert enable the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod to fulfill its mission to support and promote arts and culture on Cape Cod. In addition to its role as Barnstable County's regional arts agency, the Arts Foundation awards grants and scholarships while supporting artistic, cultural, and educational programs throughout Cape Cod. Pops in the Park proceeds will allow expansion of AFCC's work around the Lower and Outer Cape.
