Centerville, MA -- The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod presented a Spring Talent Search seeking new Cape bands to add to the lineup of the 2014 TD Bank Summer Concert Series.  The event was help Wednesday night, April 23 at The Lanes Bowl & Bistro in Mashpee and showcased eleven Cape based musical acts in a variety of genres.  The southern rock group, Chicken Fry, won the competition and will appear in the summer music series this July.

The five piece group is based in the mid-cape area and includes guitarists Ryan Benoit and Mike Farren, bass player, Rick Latshaw and Danny McAllister on drums. Dan Helman who plays Mandolin, Banjo and Fiddle for the group expressed that they feel "blessed and thankful to have been picked as this years band."  Helman, Farren and Benoit also provide vocals for the group's blend of contemporary and classic southern rock.
The Talent Search provides an opportunity for established and emerging bands who have never played the TD Bank Summer Concert Series to showcase for a live audience and a celebrity panel of judges to compete for open slots in the lineup.
According to Kevin Howard, President & CEO of the Arts Foundation, "It was a fantastic night for local music. The musicianship and appeal of all the participants made for very tough choices for the panel. Ultimately, several of the bands will be part of our line-up and we look forward to a great TD Bank Summer Concert Series."

The competing bands were scored on musicianship, audience appeal and on how well the judges thought the group would fit into the outdoor summer family friendly concert series. The panel of judges for the event included AFCC Director and Jazz musician Bart Weisman and Cape Cod Broadcasting's Program Manager Cat Wilson, who is also the Executive Producer of The Cheap Seats, a radio show featuring original local music. Rounding out the panel were musician John Kilroy who is also a member of the Cape Cod Economic Development Council and Marketing Director for Mashpee Commons, Mary Derr.
