Holiday season is upon us!

Warm Wishes is a curated small works show featuring just a few of the many Gowanus artists!

We're biased, but we think original artwork by local artists is the best gift, and the works in this show are priced with that in mind. Come find something for your significant other, a hard-to-shop-for friend, or even yourself!

On December 9th Established Gallery is hosting an opening reception for Warm Wishes from 6-9pm. There will also be a pop-up marketplace with gifts like apparel, coloring books, holiday cards, baked goods and more. We hope you'll come celebrate the year with us as we look forward to 2023!

Participating artists: Miguel Ayuso, Jon Bunge, Brooklyn Buzzy, Emily Chiavelli, K Haskell, Traci Johnson, Jessica Lee, Sean Qualls, David Samuel Stern, Andrew Smenos, Amy Weil, Marlene Weisman and Chris Weller

THIS WEEKEND at Textile Arts Center

TAC is hosting the sixth annual Give Back Market on Saturday, December 10 & Sunday, December 11 from 12-7pm in our Brooklyn Studio (505 Carroll Street, Brooklyn, NY). GBM is dedicated to supporting artisans and Gowanus Mutual Aid.

Each year the Give Back Holiday Market is a great success due to community efforts and incredible talent. We have raised thousands to date for worthy causes in what has become an annual tradition.

TAC will be fundraising with the market, drop-in textile workshops, and AIR Open Studios:

All the proceeds from the event will be donated to Gowanus Mutual Aid.

On View: Miguel Ayuso at The Gowanus Dredgers Boathouse!

Somethin's Cookin' is collection of Miguel Ayuso's most recent creations, centering food, whimsical animals, memories and tastes of home. The show features ten original illustrations inspired by Alcalá Street, a famous cobblestone thoroughfare in Ayuso's hometown, Oaxaca, México. The artist has fond memories of the slow rhythm of the street, filled with locals and tourists strolling about while munching on the many delectable street foods on offer.

Alcalá Street shares lots of similarities with areas Ayuso frequents here in New York City. He found joy creating the anthropomorphic pieces, all reflecting animals from Oaxaca or NYC, eating street foods and mouth-watering snacks he enjoys in both places he calls home.

Most illustrations were created using first ink and paper (for the original compositions) then reproduced or printed with various techniques including rubber carvings, linocut, screen printing and digital prints. Base illustrations are black and white with magenta highlights. For the larger pieces, he created variations using acrylic paints and mixed media on repurposed wood panels found on the streets of NYC.

For this show, Ayuso has pushed into a medium he rarely explores - sculpture. To create the brightly colored pretzels, he first created a clay model, then a rubber mold and, finally a series of silicon copies which he painted with acrylic paints.
