In honor of Pride month, Arts Gowanus partnered with Brooklyn Pride and The Old Stone House & Washington Park to present "Together We Will...," a public art exhibit featuring 100+ works by Brooklyn-based LGBTQIA+ artists that celebrate their community.

All of the works are printed on vinyl banners and include a brief description of the piece. The banners will be displayed on the fence surrounding The Old Stone House & Washington Park/J.J. Byrne Playground throughout the summer until August 31st.

Jurors Mickey HellerKyle NaffOluwakemi OritsejaforAriel Sanders, and Eric Sosa helped select the final works on display. The original version of some of the artworks can be purchased at artsgowanus.org.

Today! Art Connect: Materials Swap & Networking Event, 202B Plymouth Street, Dumbo

Bring your surplus art supplies, make connections, and support fellow artists at Art Connect: Materials Swap and Networking Event today (Tuesday, June 13) from 5-8pm.

The mission is to practice sustainability by exchanging art materials while connecting emerging and established artists.

Closing Sunday, June 18 at Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC), 481 Van Brunt Street, Red Hook

Four great group shows are closing at BWAC this Sunday (6/18). Go check them out while you can! 

- Fired Up! is an exhibition of artwork by BWAC member artists who work in clay.
- What's New is BWAC's first member show of 2023 with the theme...show us what's new.
- Recycle 2023 is a national juried show of art crafted from discarded and re?purposed materials.
- Beyond Mud: Ceramics in 2023 is a national juried show that explores ideas about form using clay.

Last Chance Dance Party at Spoke the Hub, 298 Butler Street, Gowanus

After nearly four decades in Gowanus, Spoke the Hub (STH) is sadly leaving the neighborhood this June to focus on its Park Slope space, the STH Re:Creation Center at 748 Union Street.

STH in bidding farewell to their Gowanus space at 298 Butler Street with a series of events throughout the month, including  "Exit Art Exhibit," a group show featuring new paintings, prints, photography, and multi-media works.

Join the fun on Saturday, June 17 at the Last Chance Dance Party. Starting at 6pm, learn the basics of Swing and Salsa dancing! (No partner or previous dance experience is necessary.) At 7:30pmArt Lillard &The Heavenly Big Band will take the stage for a live performance, and at 9pm there'll be a rock 'n roll dance party!

Summer Art Camp for Teens at Tappeto Volante Projects, 126 13th Street, Gowanus

Free Rehearsal Space for Musicians at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music

The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music (58 7th Avenue, Park Slope) offers 17 sun-filled studios – each with a Steinway piano – for rent by musicians, writers, composers, theater-makers, and solo dance artists starting at $12.50/hour.

With support from the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME), these studios are free for musicians throughout June as part of NY Music Month.
