Hello art lovers!

Are your ready for Gowanus Open Studios (GOS)??? There are more than 500 artists and nearly 100 venues on the map this year!

Don't forget to pick up printed maps at Gowanus Gardens TONIGHT (Oct. 18), 6pm to 8pm! Or grab your map during GOS weekend at one of these locations.

Help us spread the word about the inaugural Arts GowanBus, a free shuttle bus available to GOS visitors on Saturday, October 21!

Pick Up GOS 2023 Maps This Wednesday, 10/18

This is going to be the biggest Gowanus Open Studios yet! This year's event will feature more than 500 artists and nearly 100 venues!

Stop by Gowanus Gardens at 256 4th Avenue (between President & Carroll Streets) on Wednesday, October 18, between 6pm to 8pm and grab PRINTED GOS 2023 MAPS as well as wayfinding materials.

Located around the corner from our office, Gowanus Gardens also suffered flooding from last month's storm. Come pick up GOS maps and support this awesome venue by purchasing some food and drink and, if you're feeling lucky, stick around after 8pm for Garden Bingo!

If you can't make it to the Map Pickup Party, you can find maps at these locations starting on Thursday:

- 197 Bond Street  
- Gemini and Scorpio Loft, 267 Douglass Street
- 540 President Street  
- The Gowanus Dredgers Boathouse, 165 2nd Street
- 98 4th Street

Hop On The Arts Gowanbus!

Arts Gowanus has partnered with Ti Art Studios to coordinate the first ever Arts Gowanbus, a Free shuttle for GOS visitors on Saturday, October 21.

The 5 Arts GowanBus stops are: 

- 197 Bond Street (Fulton Art Fair)
- 540 President Street (Brooklyn Neighborhood Arts, Brooklyn Art Cluster Studios, Playground Brooklyn, & more)
- 117 9th Street (Gowanus Creative Studios)
- 183 Lorraine Street (Ti Art Studios)
- 165 2nd Street (Gowanus Dredgers Boathouse)

The bus should come roughly every 20 minutes. You can find all the Arts GowanBus stops on the printed GOS map!

GOS is Brooklyn’s biggest celebration of local art, when hundreds of artists in and around Gowanus welcome visitors into their studios or exhibit their artwork at venues across the neighborhood.

Arts Gowanus' Program Director extraordinaire, Emily Chiavelli, and artist Jessie Novik recounted the devastation caused by the storm.

Kick Off GOS Weekend with Gemini & Scorpio on Friday, Oct. 20!

Gowanus venue Gemini & Scorpio kicks off GOS weekend on Friday, October 20 with a brass band parade and party!

7pm: Join HONK NYC! on an impromptu parade led by a fearless brass band, snaking its way through Gowanus haunts and making stops at outdoor Arts Gowanus murals.  

9pm: The parade winds its way to the Gemini & Scorpio Loft, an eclectic secret party space now celebrating its first year in a new 5k sq ft location -- just a few doors down the block from its previous location of 10 years. 

Come see Gemini & Scorpio's new space; dance on the dance floor; chill in the cushy lounge; imbibe in the jungle-themed bar; enjoy the vibes, the visuals and the beats. It's a rare open-house night in Gemini & Scorpio's magical space. Bring some tipping dollars for the band. Accepting donations along the parade and at the party.

Close Out GOS Weekend with Arts Gowanus at the Gowanus Dredgers Boathouse on Sunday, Oct. 22!

Celebrate the end of another successful Gowanus Open Studios weekend on Sunday (6:30pm to 8:30pm) at the Gowanus Dredgers Boathouse165 2nd Street.

There will be drinks, pizza, and a few surprises, including cool new merchandise featuring brand new designs, like the one above, by Hally Thornton. Thanks, Hally!

Come by, chat, chill, and purchase one of these limited edition tees before they sell out!

Visit Sola Market at St. Lydia's During GOS

Sola Market and friends present "I Want To Return To The Earth," a pop-up art show at St. Lydia's (304 Bond Street). The exhibit will feature artists from across the globe and the descendants of history's survivors and greatest resistors, in themselves living ancestors.

Sola Market will also host a fundraising dinner on Saturday, October 21 from 6pm-8pm. Along with enjoying a four-course dinner prepared by Chef Pickle Juice, with produce and ingredients provided by the New York Restoration Project Gardens, guests will have the opportunity to learn about Sola Market's mission to make art, care, and rest more accessible, sustainable, and equitable. Meet the dedicated team members, advisors, and volunteers behind SOLA Market, and end the night with the Big Bloom afterparty, serving up curated cocktails from Rosaluna Mezcal.
