ArtsNET to Receive $20,000
from the National Endowment for the Arts

Bedford, Texas - ArtsNET is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Grants for Arts Projects award of $20,000.00

This grant will support our Art On Wheels program. Since 2015 ArtsNET has held over 1000 Art on Wheels (AOW) classes serving over 3,300 students. Virtual and in-person art classes provide a creative outlet for senior citizens and individuals aged 3 and up with limited financial resources and mobility due to health issues or transportation challenges. ArtsNET partners with senior facilities and different non-profits like North Texas SNAP (Special Needs Assistance Partners) to provide classes at their locations. Senior facilities include Evergreen Senior Living, Saginaw Senior Center, North Richland Hills, and Haltom City Senior Centers. Art, culture, and entertainment are vital in addressing mental health and well-being in underserved populations – especially now, with the continuing downstream effects of the pandemic.

“The NEA is delighted to announce this grant to ArtsNET which is helping contribute to the strength and well-being of the arts sector and local community,” said National Endowment for the Arts Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “We are pleased to be able to support this community and help create an environment where all people have the opportunity to live artful lives.”

“Art On Wheels brings such joy to our participants. Our teachers love being involved. Our volunteers love to be involved. The community loves to be involved. We are blessed and honored to offer this wonderful program to our senior and special needs friends,” said, President ArtsNET, Nansii Downer.

ArtsNET will be able to reach more individuals and facilities to further advance the availability of this program to our communities. For more information on Art On Wheels, send us an email, [email protected]
