This Week at the Auburn Chamber

"A rising tide raises all boats."

This is one of my favorite sayings, and I believe this statement is most especially true when looking at our business community. There is rarely a day when every one of our local businesses is booming, however, there are many weeks, even months at a time when overall business is good. And the real beauty is when each of us sees that by supporting each other, we are in turn, supporting ourselves. In simple terms, those of us who live and work in Auburn have the opportunity, dare I say, the responsibility to support one another's businesses. Sometimes we have the option to order something online...we all succumb to that sometimes, but I encourage you to try to find what you seek, right here at an Auburn area business. When we spend our own money locally those dollars stay local. They in turn support another business. They help another local person sponsor a little league team or a soccer team or they help make a donation to a local fundraiser for a nonprofit organization. It's up to all of us to support one another. By doing so, the tide rises for all of us.

As we're thinking locally, here are a few noteworthy things to consider. April 30-May 6 is is Small Business Week. I encourage you to choose at least one local small business to support. If you're already a Chamber member and haven't participated in a Chamber 101 training - sign up for the next one on April 19. If you're a member, or considering becoming a member, join us at Crooked Lane Brewery for our next evening mixer on April 20.

However you choose to support your community, do it with a smile on your face, I'll be right there with you.
