A Note From Your Chamber CEO

Yay for rain! All those rain dances finally paid off and it really seems to be helping the Mosquito Fire. Congrats to all who danced!

Speaking of Mosquito Fire, we had the privilege of teaming up with the Placer Community Foundation and were able to fund 300 families with some money to help them with their evacuation expenses. We did something similar during the River Fire so when we got the call to help again it was a no brainer to say absolutely we will help! We heard so many stories on Friday of how people are living and trying to survive. Many were staying in encampments and many were on their last few dollars in their accounts, it really was a heart string puller. Although we know we couldn't help everyone, we are hoping for some more funding to be able to help more. Also a big thank you to the CalFire Foundation who donated gift cards for the evacuees as well.

Amidst the crisis of the Fire, we also got word that FEMA was going to be taking over the Fairgrounds starting today which meant we need to quickly find a new location for our State of the Community Dinner & Awards. We are forever grateful for Mike and Cindy at Gold Hill Gardens who offered their absolutely STUNNING venue and a rate that we could fit into our budget. We are so thankful for them and cannot wait to host our wonderful event there. I know I say this a lot but I expect this year to well exceed last year in not only a great line up of award winners but an absolutely stunning venue with delicious food from several of our local restaurants.
