Authorities are asking for help in finding a 16-year-old girl who ran away from a Mooresville-area group home Sunday.
Kelsie Jane Prevatte was last seen leaving the home on foot. She went to a nearby business, where she used an employee’s phone to send texts and make calls, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
A customer at the business reportedly gave Prevatte money, which she used to take a taxi to the Statesville area, said the sheriff’s office, which added that she may be traveling to the Winston-Salem or Greensboro areas, where she has family.
She was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, turquoise fleece pajama pants and black Vans shoes. She is 5-foot-10 and weighs about 210 pounds.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 704-878-3100 and/or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 800-843-5678.
