Project Peep! Chicken Hatching

May 4 - June 7

Jeepers peepers! We're so egg-cited! The library is hatching baby chickens this month! The eggs will be arriving on May 4, and their approximate hatch date is May 24. Visit the Children's Dept. and pick up a Chick Countdown Coloring Sheet to follow their progress (or follow the ChickCam on our website or via our Children's FB page)! There will be a chicken-themed scavenger hunt, a Name the Chick Contest, a chick-themed drop-in craft, and more. It's going to be eggs-traordinary!

The Connecticut Nutmeg Book Award invites students in grades 2-12 to read quality literature and to choose their favorite from a list of nominated titles. The Nutmeg Nominees are announced on March 15. The following April, children statewide cast votes to select one Nutmeg Book Award winner in each division: Elementary (grades 2-3)  Intermediate (grades 4-6)  Middle School (grades 7-8), and High School (grades 9-12). Read & Bead: Superhero Summer!

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's...the Read & Bead Summer Reading Challenge (with a superhero twist). This summer it's larger than life and coming to the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library! Be on the lookout for all the MARVELous details!

These books are huge! Big Books are oversized books (18 inches or larger) that everyone can see. They check out for 3 weeks just like a regular-size book, too! Titles include both old and new favorites. *Note: Our Big Books must be checked out from and returned to the Berlin-Peck Library because of their size. Please do not return them in the book drop.
