Sneak Preview Summer 2022

The Bert Gallery Summer season begins with the exhibition, Modernist Walter Feldman: Beyond De Kooning and Albers. The show opens May 11th – May 31st at our location in Corliss Landing at 24 Bridge Street.  Located along the Providence waterfront, there is street parking in this busy section of town off Wickenden Street.

Gallery Hours are 12 – 4 from Wednesday through Saturday.  “By appointment” offers you a chance to fit in a gallery visit off-hours, simply by giving us a call at 401.374.5708 or e-mail [email protected].

A detailed description of the Feldman exhibit can be found in our press release, and an online preview of some of the paintings here on www.bertgalleryNOW.com.  This exhibit features a sampling of paintings, woodcuts and books by Walter Feldman (1925 - 2017) after his Yale art education with Albers and De Kooning.  Feldman accepted a faculty position at Brown University in 1953 and remained in the Providence community the remainder of his career.

In June and July, Providence School of Painters will be featured. The 1980’s ushered in a new appreciation of American Painting in the late 19th century leading to a flourishing art market among art historians, art dealers and collectors. Bert Gallery has identified some Providence School artists in our collection who shaped the local art scene and are documented in museum collections and scholarly publications.

I look forward to seeing you this summer as we celebrate our 37th year in business.
