From: Beverly Hills Chamber Of Commerce

On July 25th, the Beverly Hills City Council unanimously voted not to enforce the potential mask mandate by the Los Angeles Department of Public Health. The council cited numerous examples for their opposition, the primary argument being that the City does not have the resources to enforce the requirement within the business community.

It was determined that a universal indoor mask mandate would not be reinstituted after Los Angeles' Coronavirus outbreak, as hospitalization rates had significantly decreased.

The Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce opposes California Assembly Bill 1001. The bill would expand the California Environmental Quality Act(CEQA) to include mitigation power for adverse effects of a project on the air quality of a disadvantaged community. The Chamber opposes AB 1001 as it would impede the process for local government to approve new housing projects. California's housing crisis could be exacerbated by the proposed litigation measures included in the bill.

The Chamber is joining a coalition of stakeholders led by the California Chamber of Commerce.
