Big Hole Valley 4th of July Celebration 2023

Arts and Entertainment

June 7, 2023

Fourth of July is a special time of year for all the United States, but not anywhere more so than here in the Big Hole Valley.

The morning is started off early with a flag raising ceremony at 6:15 AM, then a free pancake breakfast follows at Fetty’s on the Main Street, down town Wisdom. This year our Patriotic Speaker is not yet decided and I will put info here when I find out.

After breakfast, the locals get their horses, and tractors, and their buggies, and their kids, and all go out to enjoy the annual Wisdom Fourth of July Parade. During the parade much candy and other goodies are tossed to the crowds of children watching by the parade participants. A lot of people dress in red/white/and blue to honor old glory. The parade will start at 10:00 AM. Entry in the parade is free, so if you want to be in the parade meet behind Larry’s Automotive by 9:30 am.

After the parade we have a fund raiser BBQ with all the fixins served "potluck" style, which is sure to fill you up. The BBQ will be held at the Masonic Temple, located just behind the Pintler Gas station.

Returning this year is the Big Hole Valley Fireworks Celebration. The festivities will start at 8:00 PM at the Wisdom Airport, about a mile out of town on Hwy 278. Country music, a bon fire and a softball game will be part of the fun. Bring your own BBQ food items and beverages if you wish. The fireworks are scheduled to begin at dark (around 10:30 PM). Donations for the Fireworks show are being requested! You can Mail a check to BHva PO Box 193, Wisdom, MT 59761. Donation boxes are available as well at the businesses in Wisdom and Jackson. Please no personal fireworks at the event due to liability issues.

Welcome to the Big Hole... We would love to have you join us for this community event!
