Each year, the Biggs Museum of American Art, in partnership with the Delaware Division of the Arts, exhibits the work of the Division’s annual Individual Artist Fellows at the Award Winners exhibition. The Division recognizes artists throughout the state for their outstanding quality of work in the areas of choreography, folk art, jazz, literature, media arts, music, and visual arts through these awards.

Award Winners XXII Opening Reception,

Concert & Award Ceremony

Friday, June 3, 5 - 8 PM

Join the Delaware Division of the Arts' award-winning musicians, composers, and writers for an outdoor concert and award ceremony outside the Biggs Museum of American Art. This event continues inside the museum where the Visual Artist Award Winners works are on display and the exhibition opening is taking place inside the museum.

The concert and award ceremony will take place on the lawn outside of the Biggs Museum from This concert is BYOP ("Bring Your Own Picnic"), so you are welcome to bring your own blanket, chairs, and additional refreshments!

Registration is required. This event is free and open to the public

Drink tickets will be available for $5 each.

Non-Alcoholic beverages are free. Light refreshments will be served.

Members, present your membership card at the opening reception to receive a complimentary drink on us.

Upcoming Festivals

This June, there are so many events happening right on the museum's lawn. For each of the festivals listed below, the Biggs will offer free admission and a hands-on craft suitable for both children and adults to enjoy.

In an effort to welcome all members of the community, the museum has crafted a special membership offer. For a limited time, those who become a first-time member, or renew their memberships will receive 3 FREE months of membership benefits.

Enroll or renew between June 1 and Comic Con on June 18 to receive a 15 month membership for the price of an annual plan. Early renewals are eligible for this offer.

Delaware Pride Festival

25th Anniversary

June 4

Parade starts at 9 AM

Festival runs from 10AM-5 PM

Join Delaware Pride in celebrating our 25th Anniversary with our Delaware Pride Festival. We have two stages this year, vendors, food trucks, beer garden, kids zone, and so many activities. Join us for fellowship and fun. Admission and parking are free for the event.

Biggs Craft: Whether you are attending the Pride Festival, or First State Heritage Park's Victorian Picnic, stop by the Biggs to create a wearable Victorian- inspired fancy hat, so you that you can go about your day in style.

Positively Dover African American Festival

June 11

Beginning at 10 AM

Open-air African Market Style Festival! This is our 32nd African American Festival, Positively Dover. Our free family event features live music, dancing, and vendors with food, art, jewelry, clothing, artisan goods, interactive activities, and FUN for all ages. Bring your lawn chair and plan to stay all day. This is a rain or shine event!

Biggs Craft: Join us to create a unique collage project, inspired by the newest addition to our collection, "In Between the Two" by Melissa Sutherland Moss.

Dover Comic Con

June 18

10 AM - 4 PM

Dover Comic Con is a FREE, family-friendly, indoor/outdoor pop-culture festival with over a hundred vendors, artists & artisans, authors, a cosplay competition, fan groups, pop-culture cars, food trucks, live music, a gaming tournament, and panel discussions throughout the day.

Biggs Craft: Biggs Kids, ages 4- 10, can transform into superheroes by creating their very own “bracers” and masks using cut shapes, decorative supplies and their imaginations! While supplies last, children can also create their very own dragon pals to protect them throughout the festival.
