Boerne’s In The Dark : Two Upcoming Solar Eclipse Events

Government and Politics

January 12, 2023

From: City Of Boerne

Boerne will be a hot spot for viewing not one but two solar eclipse events in the near future! Mark your calendars, procure your special eclipse viewing glasses (sunglasses will not get the job done), and secure your lodging for this rare opportunity.

Eclipse chasers travel all over the world to view these extraordinary astronomical events. A total eclipse is extremely rare and occurs on average in a single location once every 375 years. Totality is an awe-inspiring, beautiful, and eerie experience that is hard to describe. To witness a complete and total eclipse to the max, plan to be in the path of totality. The closer one is to the center of the path, the longer the viewer will enjoy eclipse totality. Boerne will be a prime viewing location for both of these upcoming events.

Annular Eclipse: October 14, 2023

The partial eclipse will begin at about 10:20 a.m., with four minutes of annularity beginning at 11:51 a.m. when the moon lines up directly in front of the sun. During annularity, the sun will appear as a "ring of fire" around the moon. Don’t forget your eclipse glasses for this event. Check out this Preview Video

Total Solar Eclipse: April 8, 2024

Boerne is in the path of totality for the total solar eclipse, meaning the moon will completely block out the sun for 4 minutes and 23 seconds beginning at 1:32 p.m. This is the BIG event that eclipse chasers will travel far and wide for. Plan early to be in Boerne for this can’t-miss event! Check out this Preview Video.
