WASHINGTON—U.S Senator John Boozman (R-AR) joined his colleagues to introduce multiple pieces of legislation defending the unborn and promoting pro-life initiatives as the 118th Congress commences.

“I welcomed the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision last year that struck down Roe v. Wade, giving states and citizens the power to protect the unborn. While the Biden administration and Democrats in Congress demonstrate just how radical their views on abortion are by supporting bills to legalize abortion on-demand, I am proud to join my colleagues to stand up for life with common sense policies that care for moms and babies. Every life has value and dignity, which is why I continue to support this most basic right,” Boozman said.

Boozman, a member of the Senate Pro-Life Caucus, introduced the following bills at the outset of the 118th Congress along with other Republican senators: 

-The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortions Act, led by Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS), which would establish a permanent, government-wide prohibition on federal funding of abortion. 

-The Protecting Individuals with Down Syndrome Act, led by Senator Steve Daines (R-MT), which would prohibit abortion on the sole basis that the child has Down syndrome.

-The Protecting Life on College Campus Act, led by Senator Steve Daines (R-MT), which would prohibit federal funds from going to any college or university with campus health clinics or sites that provide abortions or abortion drugs to students.

-The Helping with Equal Access to Leave and Investing in Needs for Grieving (HEALING) for Mothers and Fathers Act, led by Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR), which would amend the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to include the spontaneous loss of an unborn child as a qualifying medical condition for FMLA leave and establish a tax credit for a woman who suffers the loss of a child in the womb.

The senator has an “A” rating from the Susan B. Anthony List and an “A+” rating from Students for Life Action as well as a 100 percent score from the National Right to Life Committee in recognition of his consistent voting record in defense of life.
