Boulder, CO – Celebrate all children with BMoCA at Día del Niño (Children’s Day)! This annual event presents free, multicultural festivities for the whole family. The programming celebrates Latino culture and the international holiday honoring children. Held outside in Boulder’s Civic Area Bandshell, Día del Niño is a joyful and colorful event with traditional dance performances, live music, and hands-on art making.

Historically, Día del Niño is the day when children are honored in Mexico. BMoCA has collaborated with the Mexican Cultural Center to present Día del Niño to growing audiences since 2011. The event is scheduled concurrently with the Boulder Farmers Market and BMoCA’s free Saturday, enabling families to enjoy a range of free activities in downtown Boulder.

This year, the City of Boulder will launch its Child Friendly City initiative. To kick off this bold first step towards being a Child Friendly City, the City of Boulder, UNICEF USA and Growing Up Boulder will announce their formal partnership at BMoCA’s Día del Niño celebration on Saturday, April 29 at 11a.m. at the Boulder Civic Area Park’s Glen Huntington Bandshell (13th & Canyon). The launch will include a few remarks by city and partner organization officials.  For more information about this initiative, visit https://www.growingupboulder.org/

Between 11:30-1 pm, join us for performances by:

Sabor Latino Grupo Folklórico,

Ballet Folklórico de la Cultural Fort Lupton HS

and On The Rocks A Capella Group from CU Boulder

David Dadone, BMoCA’s Executive Director, says, “The museum is honored to continue partnering with the Mexican Cultural Center and partners across the Denver metro area to present Día del Niño. It is a day of exciting multicultural programming for the entire community, ??and we look forward to engaging people of all ages in the festivities.”

BMoCA is excited to be working with a number of organizations providing the underwriting support that makes Día del Niño possible, including the City of Boulder Parks & Recreation, City of Boulder Office of Arts and Culture and First Bank.

Our partners include Art Parts Creative Reuse Center of Boulder, ATLAS Institute at University of Colorado Boulder, CHAC Gallery (Chicano Humanities and Arts Council), Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition, El Centro AMISTAD, Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA), GENERATIONS/ Boulder County Public Health, Growing Up Boulder, Longmont Museum, Luna Cultura, Mexican Cultural Center, Studio Arts Boulder, and UNICEF USA.  The community partners will have activity booths for families and children throughout the event.
