STEM Scientists: Bug Chemistry
Wednesday, Jul. 5, 11am-12pm

Did you know there's a type of red pigment that we get from BUGS that is used in paints, dyes and makeup? We'll explore the interesting cochineal bug, and then we'll process the bugs into paint. We'll practice some simple chemistry lessons to make different colors. Then we'll try out our color creations and paint! Ages 5+; registration required. 

Afternoon Book Club Hybrid
Wednesday, Jul. 5, 1-2pm

Join us for a discussion of our monthly book club book. For July we will read Take My Hand by Dolen Perkins-Valdez, join us either online or in person. Copies are available at the library or on Overdrive.

Drop-In Tech Help
Wednesday, Jul. 5, 3-6pm

Drop by the library for all of your basic technology needs! Our librarians will help you learn about using your computers, smart phones, tablets, or other devices. If you need assistance using library apps, searching the library databases, or creating any of your own accounts, we're here for you! Stop by any time between 3-6pm. For more advanced tech help, consider signing up for an appointment on our website so we can best serve your needs.

All Ages Story Time!
Thursday, Jul. 6, 11am-12pm

Our summer Story Time sessions are geared towards our youngest library friends, but there will be fun things for older kids to do as well. We'll read, sing, and provide crafts along the way! Registration required. 

Outside Games
Friday, Jul. 7, 10:30am-4:30pm

A selection of outside games will be available to use on the Library lawn or Common area every Friday from 10:30am-4:30pm in July and August! No registration necessary, just swing by any time and enjoy.

Stupendous Spiders
Wednesday, Jul. 12, 2-3:30pm

We'll be melting and pouring soap wax today to create some spider soap! We'll also make a spider snack to enjoy while we watch a short animated video about--you guessed it--spiders. Then we'll wrap things up by making a spider craft from recycled materials. Ages 7+; registration required.

Buildwave: Hands-on Building Game
Friday, Jul. 14, 10-11am

Want to foster your child's interest in STEM, while igniting their creative spark at the same time? Buildwave is a high energy, creative building program that feels like a video game. Participants will build using various materials including Lego®,  PlusPlus®, and more, which will then be absorbed into a video game! Everyone will also go home with a goodie bag. Registration is required for this special, hands-on event held at the Boylston Town House, and participants must be ages 7 or up. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Boylston Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

The Ultimate Presentation for Red Sox Nation Hybrid
Saturday, Jul. 15, 11:00am - 12:00pm

Take a fun and enlightening journey through Boston Red Sox history with the author of The Ultimate Boston Red Sox Time Machine Book. Join us in the library or watch online as Martin Gitlin guides us through exciting, nostalgic videos of the greatest and most fascinating players, teams, events and moments in franchise history. The program also includes trivia questions and covers Sox history such as the Royal Rooters, Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, The Impossible Dream Season of 1967, Lynn, Rice and '75 to the heartbreak of 1986 all the way to the four World Series championships and beyond. It will conclude with a question-and-answer period. Gitlin will also have autographed and personalized copies of his book available following the program. Registration required.
