Caribbean Queens Festival 2024

Arts and Entertainment

April 5, 2024

From: Caribbean Queens Festival

The inaugural Caribbean Queens Festival will engage community members in celebrating the music, food, artistry and culture of the Caribbean diaspora.

The Caribbean Queens
The Caribbean Queens were forged in the midst of the pandemic when, on a dark and gloomy Pacific Northwest day, a group of women from the Caribbean brought their sunny dispositions together. Originally converging at regular "pop-up" vendor events sponsored by the Komadre Kombucha Taproom and Parable Tacoma, we quickly set our sights on a project of even greater impact: a daylong community festival celebrating "all tings Caribbean"!

The inaugural Caribbean Queens Festival highlights the artistic, culinary and community contributions of underrepresented women hailing from the Caribbean diaspora. In so doing, we will address the gaps in understanding by providing an intercommunity gathering for other historically underserved and underrepresented groups.

All will be warmly welcomed to participate in our free, family friendly activities, to connect with BIPOC women in small business and artistic enterprises, and to recognize and celebrate Caribbean food, music, dance, and multiple art/craft forms.

Participating Artists:
DJ Tremenda Diosa
Queen Abbo
Pacific Lutheran University Steel Pan
Dancing Ting Seattle – Jamaican Dancehall
Anthony Cole
