JEFFERSON CITY, MO -- Join team members at Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site as they celebrate decades of Christmas past. Travel back in time as you stroll to the Boone home and see how the Boone family and residents of Greene County have celebrated Christmas since 1840.
On Saturday, Dec. 10, visitors can stop by the Boone home from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to visit with St. Nicholas, enjoy the smells of a holiday meal cooking over an open fire, make a 19th century door decoration and then send a wax-sealed letter to Santa. Outside the home, guests can browse Christmas displays sponsored by the History Museum on the Square and the Greene County Archives and Records Center. Ready for a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season? Sit and relax with a storybook sponsored by the Springfield-Greene County Library District.
After visiting the homestead, head to historic downtown Ash Grove where the festivities continue with the annual Christmas parade starting at 4 p.m. These events are free and open to the public. The events are held outside, so be sure to dress for the weather.
