Have a Safe & Happy 4th!

We can't wait to see everyone at the parade this Monday, July 4th! The parade starts at 10am on Park Street at Santa Clara. All 146 entries will travel down Park, along Otis to Grand, along Central, until the parade wraps up on Webster Street at Santa Clara.

Look out for the parade program insert in the Alameda Sun, being delivered to every mailbox in Alameda! Special thanks to Recreation Manager Patrick Russi who led the coordination of this first-time effort by City staff.

You'll see me in the parade! In February 2018, Lantzville British Columbia Fire Rescue’s 1935 Seagrave pumper truck ended its 39-year career with the Lantzville Fire Department and returned to its original home, Alameda!

Be sure to wave to our Canadian firefighting friends who will be riding on their former apparatus in the parade!

New Parking Hotline: 510-522-PARK

Call the City's new parking hotline at 510-522-PARK (7275) for broken meters, parking enforcement that doesn’t require towing, and general parking questions.

Call 510-337-8340 (Police non-emergency line) for matters related to vehicle towing, including abandoned vehicles and blocked driveways.

Call 800-818-1832 (pticket) to pay or contest a parking citation.

Street Improvements

The City is currently working to improve the visibility of storm drain culverts at 17 locations. White delineators and red curb will improve visibility for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists and prevent vehicle damage from the depression in the road.

The City Council approved the Fiscal Year 2022-23 operating budget of $285 million across all funds, and $124 million specific to the General Fund. With the adoption of this budget, the Council also authorized a set-aside of $7.5 million to help fund improvements to the Emma Hood Swim Center, authorized necessary funding for the transition of the Rent Program from the Alameda Housing Authority to the City Attorney’s Office, and authorized funds to complete badly needed kennel upgrades at the Animal Shelter.

New Public Art!

Have you seen me? The Tidal Arch, a concrete and steel sculpture approximately 70 feet long and 15 feet high, was recently installed at 1951 Harbor Bay Parkway.

The sculpture, by artist Adrien Segal, takes inspiration from tidal ebbs and flows in the San Francisco Bay and is designed to invite public interaction.

Summer Swimming

As we look forward to a summer of swimming, Alameda's Crown Beach received a spot on Heal the Bay's beach report card honor roll with water quality that earned us an A+!

And speaking of swimming, the Encinal and Emma Hood pools are open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Alameda youth and seniors $3, adults $5.
