Albany Crossing Guards

In light of the reopening of Ocean View Elementary School and temporary closure of Marin Elementary School for construction, the Albany Police Department has been working with our crossing guard vendor to select locations to best implement guards. The intersections where crossing guards will be stationed are: Buchanan & Jackson, Solano & Jackson, Solano & Talbot, Marin & Talbot, San Pablo & Marin, and Portland & Pomona.

Crossing times for Buchanan & Jackson, Solano & Jackson, Solano & Talbot, Marin & Talbot, San Pablo & Marin:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday:
7:50am – 8:35am / 9:15am – 9:45am / 1:50pm – 2:25pm / 3:00pm – 3:35pm

Wednesday:
7:50am – 8:35am / 9:15am – 9:45am / 1:40pm – 2:10pm

Crossing times for Portland & Pomona:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday:
7:40am – 8:20am / 8:55am – 9:30am / 1:35pm – 2:05pm / 2:45pm – 3:15pm

Wednesday:
7:50am – 8:35am / 9:15am – 9:45am / 1:25pm – 1:55pm

We anticipate crossing guards will be in place at the beginning of the school year, Monday August 15, 2022. However, we cannot guarantee their presence at all times. Please continue to use caution while walking, scooting, and biking to school, particularly when crossing busy street intersections. Drivers should exercise caution during school pick-up and drop-off times.

Like other businesses starting back up during the ever-evolving COVID-19 pandemic, time is needed for the crossing guard program to be set. We will continue to work with our vendor to get the crossing guard program fully staffed and in place as soon as possible.
