Aurora Aldermen to Host Several Back to School Events
It is 'Back to School' season for Aurora students, and Aurora City Council members are helping to send our youth back to class prepared and ready to learn.

Ward 10 Alderwoman Shweta Baid kicked off the season with the 2nd Annual Ward 10 Back to School Ice Cream Social on Saturday, July 30 (see above photo) with free school supplies, ice cream, raffles, kids' activities and music.

Five more Aurora City Council members – and their respective community partners - are hosting fun, educational and empowering events in August:

Ward 1 Alderman Emmanuel Llamas and Latino Fraternities and Sororities are hosting the 2nd annual Back to School Bash with free school supplies, food, kid's activities, music and more.

Ward 8 Alderwoman Patty Smith is collaborating with Calvary Church and the Aurora Interfaith Food Pantry for the 2nd annual Back to School event with free backpacks, socks, and a drive-thru food pantry.

Ward 2 Alderwoman Juany Garza hosts the 17th annual Ice Cream Social with free ice cream and tacos for all, a live mariachi, face painting, a clown show, and more.

Alderman-at-Large Sherman Jenkins and AAMOU host the 14th annual Back to School Giveaway with support from Alderman Mike Saville. Free school supplies are given in drive-thru format. Children must be present.

Ward 7 Alderwoman Scheketa Hart-Burns, with support from several churches and organizations, hosts the 35th annual Back to School Bash with free school supplies, free haircuts & braiding, food, kid's activities, music and much more.
