The City of Davis is reminding residents that on Monday, June 13, a full summer of recreational activities and programs are starting and an influx of youth pedestrians and bicyclists will be traveling throughout the community for camp, classes and more. City parks and facilities will host camps groups throughout the summer. Please travel with extra caution to keep our kids safe.

Camps that start Monday include:

-Arts & Crafts
-Camp Putah
-Dog Days of Summer
-Kids in the Kitchen
-National Academy of Athletics
-Playwell Lego Engineering
-PM Kids
-Rainbow Summer
-Skyhawks Sports Camps
-Summer Quest

Additional camps starting during the summer include: Summer Sampler, Theme Camp, Skate Camp, Voyagers, Basketball Camp and more.

The following are tips for drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians to remain safe and considerate on streets and roads during the summer.

Drivers:
-Provide at least three feet of clearance to bicyclists
-Look before you open your driver-side door
-Check rear and side view mirrors frequently
-Give your full attention when driving

Bicyclists:
-Ride in the same direction as traffic flow
-Always stop at stop signs and red lights - follow all traffic laws
-Communicate turns by using hand signals whenever possible
-Look in all directions at intersections or when entering/exiting bike paths

Pedestrians:
-Use sidewalks whenever possible
-Look in all directions when crossing (left, right, left, front and back)
-Whenever possible, cross the street at a corner or a marked crosswalk only
-Make eye contact with any drivers nearby when crossing the street

It is the goal of the City’s Parks and Community Services Department to provide safe, positive and fun experiences for all program participants. For additional information about the City of Davis’ recreational activities and programs, visit: https://cityofdavis.org/recguide
