30th annual Biketoberfest starts today

Bikers are rolling into town for this year’s Biketoberfest®. The annual fall motorcycle rally continues through Sunday. Most of the event traffic will be centered in Daytona Beach, particularly around Main Street, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard and Daytona International Speedway.

“Motorcycle only” traffic will be in effect for Main Street.

Motorists should pay close attention to bikers while traveling the roadways.

Safety Tips

- Double check traffic at intersections before turning or pulling out.

- Always check blind spots before changing lanes.

- Leave at least a four-second distance between your car and a motorcycle in front of you.

- When passing a motorcycle, give a full lane to the motorcycle. Do not share lanes!

- Individual motorcycles may blend into a larger group and may be closer than you think.

- Avoid distractions such as talking on your cell phone, texting, eating or changing radio stations.
