Affordable housing reports presented to City Council

The City Council received detailed consultants’ reports June 13 that further analyze a City strategy for locating housing as identified in the City’s housing plan for 2021 through 2029.   
Adopted by the City Council in March 2021, the 6th Cycle Housing Element was updated in December to address a State request for more information on proposed sites for affordable housing.

The consultants’ reports presented findings of Phase I studies that examined scenarios and costs to develop affordable housing at the State-owned Del Mar Fairgrounds and on vacant, City-owned properties at 28th Street and 10th Street.

EDCO preparing to swap carts and bins

The City's new solid waste hauler this week is assembling new trash, recycling and organics carts and bins to distribute to residential, multi-family and commercial customers in Del Mar.

The carts and bins — gray for trash; blue for recyclables; green for organics — are staged in tall stacks at the Public Works Department.

As of today the company, EDCO Disposal Corp., has started to distribute tags and stickers explaining how customers, on their next trash day, can ask identify old receptacles for EDCO to take away before immediately replacing them with new ones.
