The El Portal Undercrossing is Now Open

On Sunday, the City, along with SANDAG – San Diego Association of Governments, celebrated the completion of the El Portal Undercrossing and phase one of Leucadia Streetscape. A big thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate! The City and SANDAG could not be more excited to provide this new connection between local neighborhoods, businesses, and the coastline, connecting people throughout the region.

Final Summer Concert this Sunday at Moonlight Beach!

Join us as we close out our summer concert series with live music by The Rayford Bros. right on the sand at beautiful Moonlight Beach. The Rayford Bros. play rockabilly, 50's rock ‘n’ roll and 60's surf ‘n’ soul, the kind of music that makes you want to swing and dance! Come enjoy their fantastic live show with us at Moonlight Beach! Remember that glass, alcohol, smoking and dogs are prohibited on our beaches. Special thanks to concert series sponsors Ting and AMR.

Green Building Training

The City will host a public training for the Green Building Ordinance where two sessions will be held. Lunch and dinner will be provided. More information, including how to register, will be available soon.

Notice of Public Scoping Meeting

The El Camino Real Specific Plan will reimagine possible future development within the El Camino Real corridor in Encinitas. The public is invited to attend the public scoping open house meeting. The purpose of the public scoping open house is to solicit input and comments from public agencies and the general public on the proposed Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the El Camino Real Specific Plan (proposed project). This meeting will be an open house format, and interested parties may drop in to review the proposed project exhibits and submit written comments on the scope of the Draft EIR during the meeting. Representatives from the Development Services Department and the EIR consultant will be available to address questions regarding the EIR process.

NOP Comment Period: Due to the time limits mandated by state law, your response must be sent at the earliest possible date but not later than 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Achieving Your Zero Waste Potential Webinar

Join Solana Center in partnership with the City of Encinitas for this one-hour webinar where you will learn the basics of waste reduction, why it’s important, and how to keep at it even with our changing circumstances. We’ll dive deeper into the concepts of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and understand why they are said in that order.

In this webinar, we will cover the following:  

Techniques and tips to reduce, reuse, or recycle
Why our single-use culture needs to end
Where our stuff comes from and where it goes
How to adapt the basics of zero-waste to life in the pandemic era

Green Block Leader Volunteer Program – Now Recruiting

We need your help to make Encinitas a little greener! Join the City of Encinitas for the Green Block Leader Volunteer Pilot Program. Volunteers will receive a 90-minute zero waste training and a toolkit of resources. They will then use their sustainability knowledge to teach their neighbors and community about how to reduce waste. Participants must be 18 years or older.

Free Kitchen Organics Bins for Encinitas Businesses

The City of Encinitas is offering businesses FREE back-of-house (non-public) organics collection containers to use in kitchens or other back-of-house operations where food waste is generated.

To request your bins, please email [email protected] by Friday, Sept. 16. Include the following information:

Name of Business
Contact Name
Phone Number
Email
Type of Organics Bin Requested (Limit one small container and one large container per business)
