Free Kitchen Organics Bins for Encinitas Businesses

The City of Encinitas is offering businesses free back of house (non-public) organics collection containers to use in kitchens or other back of house operations where food waste is generated.

To request your bins, please email [email protected] by Friday, Sept. 16. Include the following information:

Type of Organics Bin Requested (Limit one small container and one large container per business)

Art Night

Enjoy an evening of visual art and live music as Encinitas civic art spaces and local art galleries swing open their doors at Art Night Encinitas. The event celebrates the City’s diverse visual art scene at participating venues and is free to the public. Meet local artists and fellow art lovers while enjoying a variety of artwork, art demos, artist talks, live music and light refreshments at several locations. Free shuttle service will be provided. Due to a scheduling conflict, Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) will be participating at the Community Center within Room 120. No shuttle service will occur at ICA.

Mobility Element Update – Notice of Scoping Meeting and Preparation of a Draft Environmental Impact Report

SCOPING MEETING: Pursuant to PRC Section 21080.4(b), the City is hosting an in-person scoping meeting to present on the project and solicit comments. Please note that depending on the number of attendees, the meeting could end earlier than expected.

This meeting will be an open house format and interested parties may drop in to review the proposed project exhibits and submit written comments on the scope of the Draft EIR during the meeting.

NOTICE OF PREPARATION (NOP): Notice is hereby given that the City of Encinitas, as the lead agency, is proposing to prepare a Programmatic Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) for the proposed project. This Notice of Preparation (NOP) has been prepared pursuant to PRC Section 21092.3.

NOP Comment Period: The City of Encinitas invites you to comment on the scoping for the PEIR. The NOP is available for a 30-day public review period from Friday, Sept. 2 to Monday, Oct. 3. Pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15082, responsible and trustee agencies and other interested parties, including members of the public, must submit any comments in response to this notice no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3. Please send your responses to the City of Encinitas Department of Policy Planning & Housing c/o Jennifer Gates and Evan Jedynak at the address listed under “Lead Agency”. During this period, the NOP will be available for review, or for purchase at the cost of reproduction, at the Development Services Department located at City Hall, 505 S. Vulcan Ave. during regular business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), at the Encinitas Community Center, Encinitas and Cardiff public libraries and on the City’s website at encinitasca.gov/mobilityelement.

Call For Artists—Apply to Exhibit In 2023

The City of Encinitas Cultural Arts Division is seeking visual artists to feature in revolving, individual and group exhibitions of two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) artworks in 2023. Applications are due no later than Monday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. to be considered for a juried exhibition next year in one of the three civic art spaces. Emerging and professional artists are invited to apply.
