Art & Poetry Event

Suzanne Bruce, Fairfield Poet Laureate, along with the Fairfield Suisun Visual Arts Association invite poets to write to art pieces for the FSVAA 59th Annual Nor-Cal Regional Juried Art Show.

Fairfield Celebrates America Recycles Day

America Recycles Day is held annually on November 15 to recognize and celebrate the impact of recycling, which has contributed to American prosperity and the protection of our environment and natural resources.

To celebrate America Recycles Day, the City of Fairfield and Republic Services will host a table at the Cordelia Library (5050 Business Center Drive, Fairfield) on November 15, from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Residents are encouraged to visit and chat with our recycling specialist who will answer any questions they may have about recycling programs or solid waste.

For inquiries related to this event or questions regarding solid waste and recycling, please contact the Fairfield Public Works Department at (707) 428-7528, or Republic Services at (707) 437-8900.

Changing of the Guard

The City's newest Police Chief, Dan Marshall, was sworn in November 7. Family, friends, and staff gathered to celebrate Chief Marshall's promotion. He was pinned by his father Dan Marshall, and was sworn-in by retired Police Chief, Deanna Cantrell.

Chief Marshall was hired by the Fairfield Police Department in 1999 and has enjoyed an incredible career working in various assignments.

New Street Sweeping Schedule

Beginning on Monday, November 14 and concluding on Sunday, January 15, all residential streets will be swept twice per month, as opposed to one time a month. Residents’ street sweeping days will remain the same, but will also occur every other week.

For example, streets that are swept on the 2nd Monday of the Month will also be swept on the 4th Monday of the month, or streets that are swept on the 3rd Wednesday of the month will also be swept on the 1st or 5th Wednesday of the month.
