Vibrant Vacancy Program

Starting in January 2023, the Vibrant Vacancy Program will require vacant downtown commercial spaces to install window treatments such as wraps or art to transform vacant windowfronts into vibrant, attractive spaces. The purpose of the Program is to transform downtown Fairfield by attracting tenants to vacancies and improving the quality of life.

Downtown property owners will have the choice of installing approved art or the City will provide window installations for free. Click on the thumbnail for more information.

New Mural in the Heart of Fairfield

The City of Fairfield is partnering with Local Edition Creative, an artist agency based in the San Francisco Bay Area, to install a mural in downtown Fairfield. This project is part of the Art in Public Spaces program and Heart of Fairfield Roadmap to grow the downtown into the city’s Food & Arts District.

Artist, David “ Hyde” Cho, was chosen to install a modern floral design to emphasize further agriculture and nature surrounding Fairfield. This mural will complement the “California Poppies” installation and “Dreams of Fairfield” at the intersection of Texas Street and Madison Street.

The artist will start the mural on Wednesday, December 13, and the public is invited to visit and watch the process unfold over the next one to two weeks. For more information on Fairfield's Art in Public Spaces Program, click here.
