Fairfield PAL Teen Center receives Lowe’s Hometowns grant

Fairfield PAL Teen Center Receives Lowe’s Hometowns Grant, Benefitting Fairfield, Suisun, and Travis Teens!

The City of Fairfield’s Police Activities League (PAL) was awarded $300,000.00 in funding as part of Lowe’s Hometowns, an initiative that is helping to restore and revitalize spaces that serve as the hubs and heartbeats of communities.

This year is the first of a five-year, $100 million commitment from Lowe’s to the communities it serves, with this year’s projects spanning 40 states and Washington, D.C. You can learn more about the program here, and communities can find details of every Lowe's Hometowns project and their progress on the Lowe's Hometowns landing page or at #LowesHometowns on social media. This year's Lowe's Hometowns projects are slated to be completed by November 2022.

Gyms provide teens with a safe place to play basketball, volleyball, or other sports and provides opportunities for teens to get exercise and increase physical activity. As a result, teens can improve their social skills, focus, regulation of emotions, overall health, and academic achievement, all while decreasing anxiety and stress. This funding will offset the costs for additional gym space at PAL's new location at 2256 North Texas Street.

The Fairfield PAL Program is open to Fairfield, Suisun, and Travis Students ages 13-18 who are enrolled in school. Memberships are FREE and can be applied for at the Fairfield Community Center (1000 Kentucky Street) with a current ID and parent / guardian signature. The PAL Center is currently closed as we prepare to re-open at our new site located at 2250 North Texas Street later this summer. Fairfield PAL uses the fun of recreation to engage teens and build great qualities. For more information about PAL, please call (707) 330-8757 or visit the program’s webpage here, and be sure to follow them on social media.
