David Gassaway voted new City Manager

David Gassaway, who served as Interim City Manager for the last 11 months, reached a contract agreement with the city council to assume the permanent role, officially replacing Stefan Chatwin, who left in November 2021. City Council voted unanimously last night to approve the agreement.

David was initially hired as Assistant City Manager in March of 2020, during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, to oversee Community Development and the newly created Housing Services Department. Gassaway has held many high-level positions throughout his career and belongs to several notable professional governmental organizations including the California City Management Foundation and the International City/County Management Association.

Gassaway looks forward to continuing the work he started as interim. “The past year really helped to build a working relationship with the city council and has given me insight into their goals and objectives moving forward. I am thankful to the city council for their support. I am excited to roll up my sleeves and get to work with the city council and our excellent team of employees to deliver for this community.”

Gassaway’s contract went into effect December 30, 2022.
