The Art in Public Spaces program has selected three winners of the Youth Photography Contest and will recognize them at the July 5, 2022, Council Meeting. Each winner will receive $125 per winning entry, and have their submissions displayed in the City Hall lobby.

In March, the Cultural Arts Advisory Committee and city staff created the photo contest for youth ages 13-18 in the community. Participants were tasked to submit entries in any or all of four subject categories: downtown, faces of Fairfield, landmarks, and nature. Markus Taliaferro won in two categories with his “Larry’s Produce” submission for landmarks, and “Glass Architecture in Downtown” for downtown. Michael Lamb won faces of Fairfield with “Hope for Our Future Through Our Roots.”  In the nature category, Samantha Atwood won with her submission, “Rockville Hiking Trails.”

The Youth Photo Contest is part of the art projects initiated by the Art in Public Spaces Program of the City of Fairfield. The overall goal of the program is to expand public art throughout the downtown and the city. The committee and program are always seeking any public input with creating activities and events that appeal to the youth in the community.
