Beware of Email Scams Involving City Permit Payments

The City of Fremont has recently learned of an email scam involving persons posing as City staff to receive fraudulent payments from permit applicants. This type of scam is called “phishing.” Scammers may set up an illegitimate email address that looks similar to an official City email address and contact permit applicants to ask for payment.

The City is asking permit applicants and all community members to please be aware of this “phishing” scam. When in doubt, do not engage with a suspicious email. Instead, contact the City by visiting the Department Directory on the City’s website. Some City departments/divisions have a staff contact list available on their main department/division webpage as well. Also, remember that all City email addresses end in “@fremont.gov.”

For questions or concerns, please contact the City’s Planning Division by email.

All Fireworks are Banned in the City of Fremont

Fremont’s public safety departments would like to remind Fremont residents, businesses, and visitors that the sale, possession, and use of all fireworks are banned within the city of Fremont. Fire and Police resources will be on patrol in Fremont during the peak times of concern this extended holiday weekend to maintain an active vigilance against wildland fires along our hillside and fireworks use. From 4:00 pm on July 4 to 2:00 am on July 5, community members are encouraged to report illegal firework activities via the Fremont App. Additional police resources will be monitoring and relaying information to field personnel. Complaints with specific details such as an address, and description of those involved will receive higher priority.
