The City of Fremont ranked one of the top best places to live in the United States, according to a recent study conducted by Money Magazine. With a prosperous economy, ample employment opportunities, a great school system, countless trails and parks, a booming real estate market, and wonderful community events, it’s easy to see why Fremont came out on top.

According to a 2022 study by WalletHub, Fremont was named the 4th greenest city for our efforts to protect the environment and promote clean energy sources. Way to go, Fremont! Another Successful Fremont Manufacturing Week Wraps Up

The City of Fremont celebrated another successful Manufacturing Week that took place this week, October 3-7, 2022. Eleven Fremont companies representing the life sciences, battery and clean tech, automotive, and semiconductor industries opened their doors to students from FUSD, Mission Valley ROP, Ohlone College, and CSU East Bay. These companies included ALOM, Anaspec, Bloom Energy, Boehringer Ingelheim, Enovix, Evolve Manufacturing, Lam Research, Plus.ai, Seagate, Thermo Fisher, and Western Digital.

Over 200 students were guided through facility tours to see how concepts learned in the classroom are applied in various industries, and to experience what modern day careers in manufacturing and hardware engineering look like. Representatives from the California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA) and Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development attended several of the tours to highlight Fremont's success as a statewide leader in attracting and promoting advanced industries.

Fremont Police Department Public Safety Fair this Saturday, Oct. 8

Coming on the heels of a successful Coffee with the Cops this week, join the Fremont Police Department at their upcoming Public Safety Fair this Saturday, October 8, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Check out our police vehicles and equipment, including our patrol cars, the mobile command vehicle, SWAT vehicle, just to name a few. Learn traffic safety tips at the Bike Rodeo and grab a free bike helmet and bike bell!

And a friendly reminder to provide feedback to the Department on how it can best serve our community. Complete Fremont Police's annual Community Survey by October 31, 2022.

October 11 City Council Meeting Cancelled

The regular City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 11, 2022, has been cancelled. The next regular meeting of the City Council will be Tuesday, October 18, 2022. The Council Agenda and a document with instructions for participating in the October 18 virtual meeting will be posted online in the City Council Agenda Center at least 72 hours prior to the meeting.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Throughout October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, you may see members of the Fremont Fire Department and Fremont Police Department wearing pink. Both public safety departments have authorized their members to accent their uniform with pink during the month. Fremont Fire personnel may have on a limited-edition department T-shirt in support of breast cancer awareness, and Fremont Police Officers and staff can be seen wearing pink patches and pins as part of the Pink Patch Project and support of HERS Breast Cancer Foundation.

Call for Artists for boxART! Program

It's time to think "outside the box" and help beautify Fremont! The boxART! program is back, and the City is looking for new artists to paint and design Fremont’s traffic signal control boxes. Online Scheduling for Fire Inspections

Starting October 14, 2022, all fire permit applicants will need to request their fire inspections online through the City's Citizen Access permit portal. This will be consistent with the process for requesting building inspections. The City wants to make it easier for applicants to schedule their inspections and complete their permit process online. Fremont Bank HQ Recognized as SVBJ 2022 Structures Honoree

Silicon Valley Business Journal recently named Fremont Bank’s new headquarters as a 2022 Structures honoree for Best Office Project (Small). This annual award honors the best commercial real estate projects, deals, and people in the region. Once completed in March 2023, the 34,000-square-foot Fremont Bank headquarters will take the title of Fremont’s tallest building and will feature a six-story outdoor social area with fireplaces and views of the Fremont hills. The new Fremont Bank building will punctuate the west entrance to Downtown and is part of the 110-acre Fremont Downtown Community Plan that outlines the City Center District.

18th Annual Olive Festival this Weekend, Oct. 8-9

The annual Olive Festival will be held this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, October 8-9, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and is presented by the Mission San Jose Chamber of Commerce. Bring your families to enjoy food, live music and entertainment, arts and crafts, kids’ activities, and beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. Enjoy shopping for everything from olive oil and olive wood products to gourmet and specialty foods and honey. Hungry? Enjoy a delicious variety of chicken and ribs, gourmet hot dogs, linguica sandwiches, and Italian Ice. Free admission! This year’s live music includes local favorites. As a reminder, please do not bring pets to the Festival.

Celebrate International Walk and Roll to School Day on Oct. 12

It’s International Walk and Roll to School Day next Wednesday, October 12! The purpose of International Walk and Roll to School Day is to encourage students, families, and school communities to walk, bicycle, skate, scoot, use an assisted mobility device, take transit, or use other non-motorized transportation. With your family and friends, you can participate by:

- Taking a walk, or riding a bike, skateboard, or scooter.
- Biking with your child on their own or with a trail-a-bike.
- Taking the bus with your child and walking to and from the bus stop.
- Joining a Walking School Bus or a Bike Train.

Our outdoor movie night is coming up on Friday, October 14, featuring Thor: Love & Thunder at the Central Park Performance Pavilion near the Fremont Community Center. Drought Hack: Maximize Local Rainfall Through Capture

As severe drought continues, maximize any rainfall that we receive this fall and winter by capturing it and using it efficiently! Learn about setting up rain barrels and other rain capture systems to reuse rainwater to irrigate landscapes. Information on Alameda County Water District’s rain barrel rebate program will be shared.

Free COVID-19 Testing Drive-Thru at Central Park

The City of Fremont continues partnering with Bay Area Community Health (BACH) to provide no-cost drive-thru COVID testing. Drive-thru appointments are available on the following dates from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at the Fremont Central Park Parking Lot, behind Aqua Adventure Waterpark, 40500 Paseo Padre Pkwy.:
