Short-Term Rental Ordinance for Fremont

The City is starting the process of creating a short-term rental (STR) ordinance for Fremont. An STR refers to an activity in which a “host” agrees to rent out all or a portion of a residential unit to a “guest” for less than 30 consecutive nights. The new ordinance would continue to allow STRs to operate in Fremont but would adopt regulations that fit the characteristics of the city and preserve community character.

To kick off the process, the City is looking for public feedback on STRs. Using the City’s new community engagement platform, MyFremont, community members can complete a survey and participate in a discussion forum. Registration is required to participate but involves just a few simple questions. The feedback received will help inform concerns and interests related to STRs and the contents of the new ordinance.

The City will also be hosting a virtual community meeting on Wednesday, October 19 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Anyone interested in learning more about STRs and providing feedback can attend this meeting by registering.

Learn more, provide feedback, ask questions, and stay informed as the ordinance moves forward.
