Frisco Approves Zoning for Theme Park, $12.7M in Performance-based Financial Incentives for Infrastructure Improvement

Tuesday night, the City of Frisco approved zoning to allow Universal Parks & Resorts (FTVN Corp.) to move forward to develop its ‘one-of-a kind theme park’ specifically designed for families with young children, ages 3 – 11, on 97-acres of land at the northeast corner of the Dallas Parkway at Panther Creek Pkwy.

Frisco also approved a development agreement providing $12.7 million in performance-based economic incentives, all funded from sales tax collections generated by the project. Read full press release on our website

Join Mayor Jeff Cheney tomorrow morning for the next 'Coffee with the Mayor' at the new Frisco Public Library. Take a tour led by library director, Shelley Holley. Come and explore this innovative space and all the new features! The library is located at 8000 Dallas Pkwy.

 The next chapter unfolds for the Frisco Public Library with three times the space, more computers and high-tech amenities, a larger learning playscape, and so much more to explore. Guests are greeted by Rexy, a 22’ tall, 42’ long model of a Tyrannosaurus rex. 

City leadership, library staff and the community gathered March 4 for an open house inside the new space. It spans 158,068 square feet, compared to its previous facility of about 50,000 square feet - making it now the sixth largest library in Texas. To date, this 'adaptive reuse project' is the largest expenditure for a city facility, made possible thanks to the Frisco Community Development Corporation's (FCDC) donation of the space and $62 million in voter-approved bonds. Read full press release.

Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 12; Time of Day Watering Guidelines Will Apply

As you set your clocks forward Sunday, remember irrigation controllers should also be adjusted for the time change. Set controllers to run before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m.  Not watering between those hours helps reduce evaporation as temperatures warm up in spring and summer.

Not sure how to set your controller? Use our helpful WaterWise 'Ask an Irrigator' videos as a guide. You can also schedule a free sprinkler system check-up with one of our licensed irrigators. This year, appointments are for residents with an odd number street address. Those with an even number address can request a check up in 2024.
