Baby Yoda Library Cards Now Available at the Fullerton Public Library

Join us for special Star Wars-themed events beginning on May 4 and continuing throughout the month as Fullerton Public Library celebrates the arrival of the galaxy’s most adorable form of identification: our new Fullerton Public Library Grogu (Baby Yoda) library cards! Enjoy a fun photo op with Jabba the Hutt to memorialize your new cardholder status, take your first step into a larger world with some virtual reality lightsaber training, and pick up fun giveaways for the younglings in the Children’s Library. (Don’t worry, adults, we’ve got some swag for you as well.) While you’re here, check out our display of Star Wars books, movies, and comics in the library lobby, and don’t forget to visit us online at https://www.fullertonlibrary.org/star-wars-day to find downloadable Star Wars crafts, activities, and interstellar fun for the whole family.

Fullerton Public Library’s new Grogu cards are available to everyone who signs up for a new library account. Already have a library card? Throw your non-Baby Yoda library card in the nearest trash compactor and replace it with a glorious new Grogu one! You can even help the library by making a suggested donation of $2 to cover the cost of the replacement and support Fullerton Public Library. As with all good things, supplies are limited, so get your Baby Yoda card today.

Check our website and social media for details on upcoming Star Wars programming throughout the month of May and to keep up to date on other great programs coming soon to Fullerton Public Library, your public library. And remember, the Force will be with you. Always.

Mosquitoes are Back - OCMVCD Helps Residents of All Ages Prepare for Mosquito Season With New Resources

Garden Grove, CA In recognition of California Mosquito Control Awareness Week from April 17th to April 23rd, 2022, the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OCMVCD) developed an education portal on the District’s website to educate and prepare residents for mosquito season by highlighting how to Tip, Toss, and Take Action.

During California Mosquito Awareness Week, OCMVCD will highlight one new element of the education portal each day.

This will include:

Educational sing-along videos

Coloring pages

Mosquito prevention tips, tricks, and challenges to encourage residents to Tip, Toss, and Take Action

An exclusive look at Vector Important Publications (VIP), a new subscription service that will keep residents up-to-date on notifications and vector news.

For more information, visit www.ocvector.org or follow the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District on social media: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Save Money Save water

Did you know that the average home uses 60% of its total monthly water for outdoor irrigation? Most irrigation cycles run longer than they need to, leading to water being wasted down the gutter. If you reduce your irrigation time by two minutes per cycle, you can reduce the amount of water runoff due to soil saturation. By reducing your irrigation time by two minutes, you could potentially save up to 20% of water. That means you would be saving water and money!

Disaster Preparedness for Seniors

Silver and sensational. Today’s seniors are active, vibrant, and out and about. Regardless of ability, some seniors have unique needs in an emergency or disaster. Take time to customize a "Sensation Senior" Go Bag and Emergency Kit. Consider the following:

pension accounts
medical supplies and information
batteries for hearing aids,
assisted devices
spare glasses
home care needs and information
needs of someone with dementia
support team phone numbers to include family, friends, and neighbors.
Having a plan in place helps our community stay resilient.
