Gaithersburg, MD – (January 9, 2023) The Arts Barn is now accepting applications for 2023 summer break student volunteers. Located in the heart of Kentlands, the Arts Barn offers enriching art education programs in the visual and performing arts for children ages 5 to 16 during summer break.

Student volunteers, who must be at least 14 years of age, will work with highly-qualified teaching artists in a variety of disciplines while earning Student Service Learning (SSL) hours and valuable experience.

Summer programs will begin June 26 and run through August 11. Volunteers must attend a mandatory orientation at the Arts Barn on either June 10 or June 12. Those interested in volunteering may complete the online application here. Application deadline is April 29.

The Arts Barn follows City of Gaithersburg health and safety guidelines to provide a safe environment for all participants.

The Arts Barn is located at 311 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg, Maryland. Summer break programming hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; student volunteer hours are generally 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with some variations.

Student volunteer assignments include:

Supervising students and ensuring their safety

Assisting instructors and staff

Serving as an Art Buddy (working with a camper one-on-one)
