Broadway’s Majestic Musical Camelot Brings Legend of King Arthur to Life at the Arts Barn

In partnership with Landless Theatre Company, Gaithersburg Arts on the Green presents Camelot with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. The show runs September 16 through 25, 2022, with performances on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. The Arts Barn is located at 311 Kent Square Road. Tickets are $24, $20 for students ages 15 – 21, and $15 for youth 14 and under. This show is recommended for ages 12 and older. Purchase tickets online here.

Broadway’s majestic musical, Camelot, brings the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table to life with memorable characters and a story that poignantly dramatizes the age-old conflicts of the human heart. An idealistic young King Arthur hopes to create a kingdom built on honor and dignity, embodied by his Knights of the Round Table. His ideals, however, are tested when his lovely queen, Guinevere, falls in love with the young Knight, Lancelot, and the fate of the kingdom hangs in the balance.

Lerner and Loewe's Camelot – Small Cast Version has been adjusted to suit a smaller ensemble, making the delightful classic more accessible to theaters and schools without a large pool of actors. The definitive score and memorable characters are all there but with a libretto and orchestration adapted for a more intimate production.

The Landless Theatre Company is dedicated to producing exciting and accessible art to cultivate new audiences for live theatre. Regional premieres have included Sweeney Todd [Prog Metal Version] (nominated for three Helen Hayes Awards), Washington Post Editors’ Picks Gutenberg! The Musical!, President Harding Is A Rock Star, and Carrie Potter at The New Moon Prom. Other notable premieres include Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog, A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pageant, Evil Dead: The Musical, and the 2010 Helen Hayes Recommended production of High Fidelity: A Musical.

The 2022-23 Theater Season includes plays, musicals, theater for young audiences, magic and comedy at the Arts Barn and Kentlands Mansion. Explore this season’s lineup and purchase tickets online here. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the Arts Barn box office or by calling 301-258-6394.
