Gaithersburg, MD – (October 10, 2022) Registration for Winter Youth and Teen Sports programs in the City of Gaithersburg is now open. Winter offerings include basketball, volleyball and speed & agility clinics. The City also offers Start Smart™ programs for 4 to 6 year-olds in basketball and tennis. Start Smart is an international program designed to introduce youth, along with their parents, to the world of sports.

Registration for most programs is open until November 9. Some programs have limited space and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Start Smart programs are limited to the first 20 participants. Register online and view program details here.

Winter Youth and Teen Sports offerings include: 

-Hoop Dreams – Grades K – 2

-Youth Basketball – Grades 3 – 6

-Teen Basketball – Grades 7 – 8

-Middle School Volleyball – Grades 6 – 8

- High School Volleyball – Grades 9 – 12

-Beginner/Intermediate Basketball Clinic – Grades 6 – 8

- Speed & Agility Clinic – Ages 8 – 16

-Start Smart Basketball – Ages 4 – 6

-Start Smart Tennis – Ages 4 – 6

The City is seeking parent volunteers in order to conduct a successful youth sports program. Teams practice one night a week and play one game a week. If you are interested in volunteering, please call 301-258-6350 to speak with someone on the Sports Team.

City of Gaithersburg residents may apply for financial assistance for eligible sports programs. Applications must be submitted and approved before registration. Applications are available online here and at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park.
