GPD launches rideshare initiative for safe rides during Mardi Gras

The Galveston Police Department is excited to announce a program to ensure you get home safely. During each Mardi Gras weekend, GPD is giving you $5 towards your Lyft ride. This is part of our ongoing efforts to keep impaired drivers off the road.

Your Lyft Pass is valid from Friday, February 10 at 9 p.m. through Sunday, February 12 at 6 a.m. and available while supplies last. Lyft Passes are valid with the Lyft app only, and the code is "GPDSAFE"

To access your Lyft Pass, open the Lyft app, tap to the menu option, and tap 'Payment', then tap 'Add Lyft Pass. Enter the pass "GPDSAFE" and $5 will apply to your ride during the specific times.

Outside of rideshare programs, we highly encourage you to utilize a designated driver, or local cab services on the island. We also ask to keep our 9-1-1 line clear for emergencies only.
