Purchase your pool and recreation center passes now to get a jumpstart on your New Year’s Resolutions and before fees increase in February. There will be slight fee increases for the Lasker Park pool, the McGuire Dent Recreation Center and ball field rentals beginning February 1, 2023.

Fee increases are needed to maintain exceptional recreation programs, facilities and parks, and all revenues generated from fees go directly toward the purchase of new equipment, repairs to existing equipment, and general improvements at each facility.

“The City of Galveston seeks to keep our rates for the pool and recreation center affordable to all residents while also receiving a revenue stream that will help us maintain exceptional services,” City Manager Brian Maxwell said. “These fee increases are consistent with that approach and will help us save to invest in future planned improvements.”

The fee increases were approved by City Council during the December city council meeting. This is the first increase since the pool opened in 2017 and the city began charging fees for the McGuire Dent Recreation Center in 2019. The ball field rental fees have also not been changed since 2019.
