GALVESTON, TX – August 26, 2022 – Isle neighborhoods for a night in October will host block parties and community cookouts to bring residents together with local law enforcement and first responders.

Galveston joins communities across the country in celebrating National Night Out – an annual community-police relationship building and awareness campaign. The event is organized by the Galveston Police Department, though also includes the Galveston Fire Department and EMS, and will be held in neighborhoods across Galveston on the night of Tuesday, October 4.

“Community is everything to the Galveston Police Department,” Police Chief Doug Balli said. “We’re looking forward to a night of camaraderie and listening to your ideas for how to build a police department that serves its residents.”

National Night Out is an event to prevent crime, generate support for anti-crime initiatives, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and relationships between communities and police. Galveston firefighters also participant in the events to meet the community these first responders serve.

Depending on how the neighborhood decides to celebrate, festivities may include potlucks, cookouts or family-friendly demonstrations by first responders and local law enforcement.  To find out what’s happening in your neighborhood, please email [email protected].

If you’re interested in becoming a block captain and hosting an event in your neighborhood, you can register at https://www.galvestontx.gov/National-Night-Out, or by calling (409) 526-9750 or emailing [email protected].
