Government and Politics

August 27, 2022

From: City Of Galveston

REMINDER: The City of Galveston requires a permit for temporary signs at businesses and homes, except for political yard signs. This includes feather flags, unapproved banners, and any other sign that is not permanently affixed to a building. There are exceptions for banners with a city permit. Political signs are allowed on private property year-round, and in the city right-of-way up to 90 days before an election.

The Planning Department is happy to answer any questions regarding signs and whether a sign requires a permit. Please contact the department at 409-797-3660 or 409-797-3620, or [email protected] to determine if a sign is compliant.
