City Of Garland News : $1.7 Billion 635 East Project Continues

The $1.7 billion 635 East project to widen and improve Interstate 635 and areas near the freeway's interchange with Interstate 30 continues. Various lanes of I-635 between Central Expressway and I-30 and lanes of I-30 near the I-635 interchange are closed overnights through Monday, Jan. 9, as part of the ongoing construction. I-635 is reduced to one lane between Greenville Avenue in Dallas and Miller Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the morning of Feb. 6.

Other 635 East project work impacting Garland includes:

-The exit from westbound I-635 to Plano Road is closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the morning of Monday, Jan. 9. 

-The exit from eastbound I-635 to Northwest Highway remains closed long-term.

-The entrance ramp to northbound I-635 at Oates Drive will be closed from 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4. Oates Drive will be reduced to one lane at I-635 from 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, to 5 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, and from 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, to 5 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7.

-The connector ramp from eastbound I-30 to northbound I-635 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 10, to the morning of Monday, Jan. 16.

The Texas Department of Transportation has posted an I-30 Expansion Project Fact Sheet to track updated information on the work being done on I-30 from Bass Pro Drive in Garland to the east. The $142 million project is adding frontage roads over the lake and rebuilding the Dalrock interchange.
