City Of Garland News : Overnight Shutdowns Planned At Bush Turnpike, I-30 Interchange

The North Texas Turnpike Authority is performing routine overnight maintenance on the Bush Turnpike interchange with Interstate 30 in Garland through the morning of Sunday, Feb. 19. The Texas Department of Transportation will shut down I-30 at Dalrock Road in Rowlett overnight on the same upcoming weekend.

- The connector ramp from Bush Turnpike to eastbound I-30 is closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the morning of Friday, Feb. 17. The detour is the I-30 frontage road exit and a left turn to enter the I-30 entrance ramp.
- The connector ramp from eastbound I-30 to Bush Turnpike is closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the morning of Sunday, Feb. 19. The detour is the Zion Road exit and a left turn to enter the Bush Turnpike entrance ramp.
- The connector ramp from westbound I-30 to Bush Turnpike will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from the evening of Thursday, Feb. 16, through the morning of Sunday, Feb. 19. The detour is the Bass Pro Drive exit and a right turn to enter the Bush Turnpike entrance ramp.
- All lanes of I-30 will be closed at Dalrock from 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, through 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, and from 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, through 8 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, for bridge beam installation. All traffic will be detoured to the frontage roads. Dalrock will be closed at I-30; however, westbound I-30 traffic will have access to northbound Dalrock.

All construction is subject to weather conditions.  

The Texas Department of Transportation has posted an I-30 Expansion Project Fact Sheet to track updated information on the first phase of work being done on I-30 from Bass Pro Drive in Garland to the east. The $142 million project is adding frontage roads over the lake and rebuilding the Dalrock interchange. Estimated completion for the first phase is summer 2024.

The $1.7 billion 635 East project to widen and improve Interstate 635 and areas near the freeway's interchange with I-30 continues. Various lanes of I-635 between Central Expressway and I-30 and various lanes along I-30 near the I-635 interchange are closed overnights.

Other 635 East project work impacting Garland includes:

- The entrance to eastbound I-635 at Miller Road is closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the morning of Friday, Feb. 17. The exit from westbound I-635 to Miller will be closed from 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15.
- Kingsley Road is reduced to one lane in each direction from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the morning of Sunday, Feb. 19. The exit from eastbound I-635 to Kingsley is closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the morning of Sunday, Feb. 19.
- The exit from eastbound I-635 to Northwest Highway remains closed long-term.
- The exit from southbound I-635 to La Prada Drive will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from the evening of Thursday, Feb. 16, to the morning of Sunday, Feb. 19. La Prada will be closed at I-635 at those same times.
- The entrance ramp to northbound I-635 at Oates Drive will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17. to 5 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, and from 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, to 5 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 19.
- Westbound I-30 is reduced to one lane between Broadway Boulevard in Garland and Northwest Drive from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the morning of Sunday, Feb. 19.
- The connector ramp from eastbound I-30 to northbound I-635 is closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the morning of Sunday, Feb. 19.
