Trails Coordinator - Part Time Position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Establish and maintain communications with trails users' groups by attending meetings, reviewing minutes and providing brief on trail issues.
2. Determines lo-cost/no-cost options in the City of Hot Springs Pedestrian /Trails Master Plan for implementation.
3. Define potential trail corridors and establish liaisons within city departments to assist them during adjacent development .
4. Provide input concerning the impact of requested street vacations and disposition of city land in the Hot Springs AREA Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.
5. Inspect trails by foot or bike regularly and provide quarterly trail condition reports to identify needed repairs, maintenance or pruning and coordinate these activities;.
6. Coordinate volunteer activities;.
7. Establish relationships and work alongside the Hot Springs Friends of the Parks and the Parks and Trails Advisory Committee on promotional fundraising and competitive events involving the trails;.
8. Conduct minor public speaking with trail groups and civic organizations;.
9. Assist in the layout of new trails to ensure connectivity , where applicable, and to ensure their construction will provide usable, and sustainable trails;.
10. Assist in the preparation of maps of new trails;.
11. Perform daily construction inspections when major projects are in development;.
12. Establish and maintain liaisons with land managers, government officials, and board members concerning trail issues;.
13. Research and assist in writing trail grants by providing data for submission, and making recommendations for future projects;.
14. Work alongside Urban Forestry Division on pruning and cutting back limbs/trees on trails, lifting canopy of trees where needed for bike and foot traffic;.
15. Work alongside Parks & Trails Department staff on repairing washouts and damage to hard and natural surface trails.
16. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
