Government and Politics

October 18, 2022

From: City Of Hot Springs

The citywide burn ban has been lifted by the Hot Springs Fire Department (HSFD).

HSFD issued the burn ban on Sept. 28 due to potential fire hazards associated with dry conditions. All burn permits issued prior to the burn ban were canceled; they can be reissued or extended now that the ban is lifted.

Hot Springs residents can obtain burn permits at the Central Fire Station, 310 Broadway, and the Lakeshore Fire Station, 220 Lakeshore Drive.

The residential burn permit is free, and may only be used as per the conditions on the permit. The permit must be obtained by the owner/occupant of the residential property where the burn will take place. In some instances, the fire marshal may need to visually inspect the site or materials to be burned before issuing a permit. Proof of ownership or occupancy must be verified by a driver’s license or recent utility bill statement. The commercial or second-party persons permit is $25, and may only be used as per the conditions on the permit.

Residential burn permits can be obtained seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Commercial burn permits can be obtained Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
